Violence Vs Peace

Let's discuss about non violence/peace & violence. World over peace is advocated by human beings and is being set as standard humanitarian need and need of the hour everywhere. But do human beings and specifically the political world really promote peace and non violence? Are we really doing something for making this world peaceful. This is the question of the hour.

All over the world, great leaders and politicians advocate peace, non-violence, ahimsa अहिंसा in their day to day speeches, articles and debates and shun violence. But in reality it is quite the opposite. Wherever in the world there is violence and people are fighting the political and common world pays a lot of attention and is ready to help those people involved in violent actions by different means and under different garbs and using many liberal terms for them. On the other hand non-violent people/communities are not taken seriously for their any kind of demand be it of Freedom or any other demand. What it turns out is that non-violence is ignored badly and no world power gives any kind of attention to non-violent and peaceful community's demands of any kind.

Violent communities get what they want and there are so many examples of this all over the world. Peaceful communities and people are ignored to a maximum degree and you can find a lot of examples if you put some pressure on your brain. The violent religions were spread all over the world with the power of the gun and sword but peaceful and natural religions were put on the brink of extinction. For example many countries in the world are aware of Palestine but nobody stands practically with Tibet. Wherever there is violence so many countries are involved and ready to help different parties and some are even ready to pacify the situation but on the other hand world community totally ignores peace loving people.

Don't just believe in this post but ask yourself, how many times you've rewarded some peaceful person and ignored the violent ones near you. In our daily life we can see a lot of violent people having their way right through the highway but peaceful people being ignored. Peaceful communities or people demanding anything are silenced using violent methods against them.

A very small example is that of people of Uttrakhand, India. The most peace loving people of this hill state were once a part of the bigger state Uttarpradesh and wanted a separate state under the Indian govt only as leaders sitting on posts in the UP state capital were not aware of the issues of Hill people even when they wanted to do some good for those hill people. But UP govt. in power at that time used violent means to suppress their voice (peaceful demonstration). Among the protestors involved in a peaceful demonstration many men were killed or wounded and many women were raped and killed on the way to a peaceful demonstration site in Delhi. It was only after great effort and when the struggle was on the brink of turning violent that the demands of the hill people were met and a separate state Uttrakhand was formed in India.

Another bigger well known example is that of India's independence. India got independence due to two separate ideologies at work. 1st was of non violence by Mahatma Gandhi and 2nd violent one was being followed by persons like Subhash Chandra Bose and many others who sacrificed their lives for our country India. So English could have ignored peace but could not ignore violence being used against them and there were many other circumstances and conditions peculiar to that particular time of history only. So they were forced out of India by many different forces working together for the achievement of a single common aim.

By rewarding violence and ignoring non violence/peace/ahimsa (अहिंसा ) what we are trying to accomplish is clearly visible. WE ARE KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY PROMOTING VIOLENCE. Why humanity forgets the basic principals of propagating some good belief system and practice  -- Reward it. Whenever we want to teach even an animal some desired behaviour we use award technique to train it. E.g. training dogs. Wherever we see some peaceful practice we must take a note of it, give it its due attention and help it and reward it practically. If we want a peaceful world we must first reward peaceful communities and people and their demands so that the other people follow the suit.

But politics: World politics dear reader is the meanest thing in the life of human beings responsible for spreading and promoting violence and ignoring peace and non violence. Politics is involved in all kind of wrong doings. Iraq was bombed in the name of possession of WMD when it didn't have any and on the other hand the countries spreading and supporting terrorism openly all over the world are being supported by giving them arms & ammunition, monetary and other help. Isn't it ridiculous? But that's what the world politics is and where it is heading us is not very difficult to comprehend. We are heading towards law of the jungle, promoting violence. The result is not too far for us to see and I expect you may be reading newspapers and watching news on TV everyday about violence in the world.

Here obviously I'm not a supporter of violence but I want to point out that this world responds well to violence and ignores peace. Is this good? Non violence and peace need more than just your theoretical support, it needs your practical support too to spread it all over the world to make it omnipresent and turn the world into a more habitable place worth living. You may be a boss of a company ignoring some peaceful chap working under you in your company, you may be a father ignoring a peaceful child and giving in to the demands of a violent one, you maybe the head of a state ignoring some peaceful communities' demands in your state. You maybe a customer care executive ignoring peaceful customers while giving your full attention and care to the ones who shout a lot and create a ruckus. Please think over it and do whatever you can do in your capacity to promote peace and prosperity.

In Hinduism there is a very ancient thinking of "Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam" वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम ( meaning the whole earth is one family). This thinking outshines Hinduism among other religions of the world. This thinking clearly means that if someone somewhere is doomed and is suffering from violence and poverty or any other kind of problem or illness in any part of the world, it will affect you one way or the other one day as the whole world is one family. If someone in your family is ill or facing some problem, you cannot remain happy, it'll affect you as well. So poverty or violence or any other kind of suffering in any part of the world will definitely affect the other countries of the world at one point or the other. That's what is happening currently. So it is a universal truth. Promote peace/non-violence/ahimsa (अहिंसा) and shun all kind of violence by all means.

I thought about writing this post only by reading about the suffering of the world's most peaceful community. I think you can figure out very well about which community I'm talking about.

Ok, I'll mention the community is Tibetans, but there are others too in the middle east suffering unprecedented violence on daily basis. I pray for them.

ॐ शांति: शांति: शांति:।

All views are my own and of course refer to Hinduism at many places.

Many many thanks for going through the post.

Have a nice day.
